- IF you are planning on having IV sedation - DO NOT eat or drink anything (including water) for eight hours prior to surgery. A safe guideline is not to eat or drink past mid-night the night before.
- If you take necessary daily medications please talk to our doctors or an assistant to determine if those medications should be taken the day of the surgery, or if the medication should be stopped prior to surgery or the morning of (an example of a medication that should be stopped prior is a blood thinner). If it is determined that you may take your necessary daily medications the day of surgery, you may take your medications with only a sip of water (less than an inch).
- You must have someone come with you to your surgery to drive you home, preferably a parent or relative. We cannot allow you to take a taxi or bus home by yourself.
- Please wear a SHORT SLEEVE SHIRT WITH LOOSE-FITTING ARMS the day of surgery so your blood pressure can be monitored and anesthesia may be administered. DO NOT wear any jewelry around your neck. Please remove fingernail polish from your left hand for an oxygen sensor to be placed on your finger to monitor your oxygen levels during surgery.
- If you wear contact lenses, please do not wear them the day of surgery. Also, avoid wearing shorts as you may become chilled waking up from anesthesia.
- Prior to surgery, please use the restrooms located down the main corridor to the right as you walk into our office.
- A representative from our office will call to confirm your appointment prior to your surgery date. If you have any questions or need to cancel or postpone your surgery for any reason, please contact our office at 303-806-8600 at least a week in advance.
- Being prepared at home prior to your surgery will help to make that day easier. Suggested foods to have on hand on that day are: Creamy soups, apple juice, milk shakes, pudding, applesauce, Jell-O, yogurt and ice cream. Please do not eat any spicy soft foods. If you are having tooth extractions, DO NOT use a straw. Any foods (shakes, malts, frosty drinks, etc.) should be eaten with a spoon.
- Remember to Be Optimistic! It won’t be as bad as you think. Remember to have a good dinner the night before your surgery, as it may be several days before your diet returns to normal.

Fill the prescriptions that you were given at your initial consultation. Dental implant patients should begin using the peridex rinse 2 days prior to surgery.

On the day of your surgery, please use the restrooms located down the main corridor to the right as you walk into our office.
